How to Use the Site
There are two main things that normal users can do on the cairnscentral.net website (for now - more will very likely be coming later) - comment on articles, and submit articles.
Commenting
You don’t even need to be a logged in member to comment on articles - just submit your comment, and remember to fill in the image verification field (this is so spam bots can’t post messages - they can’t read the letters in the image). Your first comment will be moderated, and won’t appear until an administrator has approved it. Once you’ve been approved once, all you need to do is use the same name and email address next time, and your comment will be automatically published. To avoid having to enter your name and email address every time you comment though (and also to get around the image verification), it’s best to sign up as a member. This also gives you the ability to submit articles.
Writing Articles
To be able to submit articles to the cairnscentral.net website, you need to become a member. Registration is simple, and only requires a working email address so that the site can send your password to you. Once you’re a member, you can log in and write articles. We encourage you to write about anything you like - if you have some pictures to add, or a new mp3 you want to upload, go ahead - all the tools are there in the article editor. Once you have completed your article, it will be submitted as a draft, and the site administrators will be sent an email. Once the draft is approved, it will be published and go live on the site. If you can show that you don’t need to be moderated when posting articles, we can elevate your user status, so that you can publish articles directly.
Uploading Pictures
Uploading pictures when you’re writing an article is easy. All you do is click the ‘insert image’ button -
. A window will pop up asking you for a url to the image. This is useful for if you’ve uploaded the image elsewhere, but if you want to upload an image to the site, simply click the ‘browse server’ button, and you will be taken to your personal image browsing area, where you can upload your images. Upload the images you want to include, and then select them, and they will automatically placed into your article.
Uploading Files
Uploading files is just as easy as uploading images. For example, if you have created a new mp3 and want to upload it, type a name for the link, then highlight it with your mouse and click the ‘insert link’ button - 
. A window will pop up asking you for a link. Click the ‘browse server’ button, and you’ll be taken to your personal file management area, where you can upload your file, then select it. This will automatically create a link to your file. Please Note: there is a limit to the volume of files you can upload. also, all links to files in the site are linked through dijjer.org to conserve cairnscentral.net’s bandwidth. This means that anyone downloading from cairnscentral.net will need to download dijjer - this is a once only process however and doesn’t affect them from then on.
